Laurie has been trained as a family therapist, a trauma informed therapist, play therapist, and in the use of EMDR. She loves to help individuals and families capitalize on their strengths and values to achieve what they are hoping for through strength based, research-based, and attachment based interventions. She has experience working with children in the foster care system and as a therapist for an IOP group therapy program for adolescents and for adults.
Laurie’s own journey and self- work has opened her heart to helping individuals and families navigate through the challenges that can drain, consume, and disconnect us. For almost eight years, Laurie was a divorced single mom and is now remarried. She also struggled a lot in her own teen years and truly enjoys working with teens through all of the challenges that can break down their self-worth. She believes in the power that each and every individual has to overcome those nasty fears that create barriers to a more fulfilling life of freedom. She has a way of helping individuals ignite hope when it has been lost.
Laurie received a Bachelor of Science in Child & Family Studies from Park University in 2002. She completed her graduate degree and received her Master’s of Science in Family Therapy at Friend’s University in 2012. She is a Clinically Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Play Therapist in Kansas.
